One day we came for a plein air to a place in Halkidiki with the beautiful name Ormos Panagias, which is translated from Greek as “Bay of the Virgin”. I climbed a hillock and saw a beautiful tree, which over the years had acquired an unusual shape under the force of the sea winds. I saw trees against the backdrop of an azure bay, which reflected the magical radiance of the Greek sun, and the merging of the sea with the horizon formed an amazing rainbow effect. “So beautiful”: I thought. “Isn’t this a miracle!” This is how this painting with the Bay of the Virgin Mary near the holy Mount Athos was born.
