The charming town square of the old village of Nikiti turned out to be a real gem this summer. When I arrived there, it was as if I had been transported 50 years back in time: old stone houses clinging to the mountainside, vintage cars from years past parked beneath the wide-open windows of the houses, and a cozy square with a café in the shade of a huge, spreading plane tree. It seems this little corner was created to help you forget the hustle and bustle of modern life and simply enjoy the moment while taking in the surroundings over a cup of Greek coffee. This painting was created right there, in the square, in early June. The owner of that very café would come by every now and then to watch as a piece of his surroundings came to life on the white canvas. 
I’m very pleased with the result. The painting truly captures the colorfulness and charm of Mediterranean streets and the quiet, cozy atmosphere of the place.
I’m sure that its owner will be transported to the mood of a summer Greek vacation every time they look at this lively scene.
